It comes as no surprise that I advocate some form of blogging for most businesses. I wanted to point out a few laptop bag designers who are using blogs in different ways to promote their businesses.
- Came across Mobile Edge's relatively new blog today. They're putting up detailed product info (like video walk-thrus (which I think are great - they really show off the bags!!) and have a good article about student travel. Hope to see more articles like that from them!
- Steve from Rainebrooke Designs has had his blog, Laptop Bag Explorer, for a while now. He uncovers some of the more interesting bags that I've seen and often has interesting tidbits on travel with your laptop - or just laptop news in general. Steve does very little on his own products, but is building his expertise around travel with laptops. You can tell from his designs that this expertise is poured right back into his bags.
- Alan has just started his blog over at Ice Red Designs. He's starting off with posts about reviews of his bags and wants to engage his customers to get feedback about his bags. Another great use for a blog.
I think it is awesome when designers blog. More and more I think that customers and potential customers are interested in learning about the people who design and make the products they buy. Great job, guys!
I know there are other designers out there who are blogging. If you are a designer and have a blog, send me a note or leave a comment - I'll add you to my blog roll.
Disclosure: I have, at one point or another, received review copies of laptop bags from the above designers. My reviews are over on my Squidoo lens: Funky, Chic and Cool Laptop Bags.
